tension homework (touching the void)

How does the writer structure the text to bring tension to the reader?
The writer structures his text by using strong words and strongly worded pharses such as "torture" he is explaning his time on the mountain like the worst thing possible. He exadurates what he is feeling by using this word, trying to show how he feels to the people reading it. He also says "an awful weariness washed through me, and with it a fervent hope that this endless hanging would soon be over" this makes the reader feel abit sorry for joe and what has happened to is leg and sort of puts the reader in his shoes an what he would have been feelig whilst hanging on a ropeuable to do anything and realying on hs friend.

The fears and thoughts which he shares with the reader
The writer does this by explaining what it was like hanging from this rope. He got to the point were he thought it was so bad he was going to drive his friend to a most certain death. No one could hear him and so he was almost certain that there was no hope for him and his friend. He thinks to himself that he is going to die the way he never wanted ad people wouldn't no what had happened to them and they would never be found. This makes the reader wonder what was going to happen to them both and that he would rather die than complete the mountain's challange.

The way the passage ends
He says that what happened was what he wanted. It leaves the reader wondering if they survived or weather they died. It makes people wonder what else happened and makes them want to read on. It makes people wonder if they were saved or if he shouted load enough and his friend as able to hear him and save both there lives.
